What is a VU meter?
A volume unit (VU) meter or standard volume indicator (SVI) is a device displaying a representation of the signal level in audio equipment. The VU meter is used to measure the level of sound intensity with audio equipment, such as amplifiers.
Although the measurements indicated on a VU meter are in decibels, the zero level should not be confused with 0 dB, the threshold of hearing. On such meters, zero indicates the maximum distortion-free level that can be handled by the device with other values greater or less than the zero level indicated as positive and negative decibels relative to it respectively.
Wash Instructions
The printing shop we partner with uses water based screen printing methods and provided us with recommendations to preserve the colors of the print.
The first strategy in preserving the print is to turn the shirts inside out prior to washing and to wash on cold, especially for the first wash. Our standard and discharge waterbased inks behave like garment dye and are subject to fading in the same way the fabric of the shirt will fade. That can be especially true on the first wash, and continues to some extent over the life of the garment, as does the fading of the garment itself. We would even recommend throwing a newly printed tee into your home dryer for a full cycle on high before washing/wearing as an additional strategy to preserve your water-based print.
